AI governance journeys can take different forms, but Saidot's experiences can be summarised to four success factors our team has learned with our customers:
Integrate AI governance into existing functions and processes, including AI development, legal and compliance and risk management, with clear responsibilities and cross-functional collaboration models.
Set your AI governance targets to enable responsible AI innovations and faster AI time-to-market with tools that support agility, collaboration, automation and integrations.
Boost the effectiveness of your every day AI Governance work with a strong knowledge base that helps you identify, analyse and evaluate relevant policies, risks and models.
Treat AI governance as an operational every-day practice that requires continuous piloting, learning and optimisation.
AI Governance journeys typically start with creating an AI policy and designing a working model that is being tested in practice with pilots. Based on the pilots, the model is finetuned and then scaled as an organisation-wide process. As AI Governance is a new practice to many organisations, we encourage supporting competence building through trainings and sparring sessions whenever the journey requires a knowledge boost.
Align and embed the AI governance best practices and framework to your organisation and processes and clarify AI governance related roles, responsibilities and targets for smooth deployment.

After free trial or facilitated pilot project, we can also support our customers in aligning the AI governance best practices to existing corporate processes, scaling AI governance related skills with our training portfolio or deploying the platform to a corporate-wide use.
Our methods are based on extensive understanding and research on industry leading standards and policies, Our methodology is based on extensive experience and leading AI standards, such as ISO/IEC 22989, ISO/IEC 23894, ISO/IEC 42001, NIST RMF.
Our platform and methodology aim at:
In a typical AI governance pilot, we organise an session for the AI teams and other AI governance stakeholders to guide them how the platform works and introducing the basic methodology.
The user interface for registering the system and starting risk management is very intuitive and the AI teams are typically ready to start exploring the AI inventory creation immediately. With the help of our knowledge base, our customers can also get started with the platform independently with great success rate.
Typically the pilot project is led either by the one leading AI governance and responsible AI operations or, in case such a stakeholder is missing, the CDO, Head of AI, or even in some cases the business stakeholder who has responsibility of governing concrete AI systems.
Pilot projects also involve a stakeholder from the legal and compliance team, especially when piloting the governance of high risk AI systems. Representation of both technical experts who understand how models work and business stakeholders who understand the context where AI is used is important.
If the pilot project is also used to align AI governance practices with other corporate functions such as risk management, procurement, cyber security or data governance, the recommendation is to include responsible stakeholders from all relevant functions.
Our typical pilot project takes from two to six months, depending on the number of pilot cases, the maturity of the company and level of operational alignment is needed. The most typical and recommended pilot project is three months.
